This picture is "stolen" from the William-Sonoma website.I have this little problem sometimes when I go shopping. Shiny things just tempt and tease me. This is a good case in point...I went into Williams-Sonoma yesterday to by a baking sheet. I really love their baking sheets and for the price you pay I find them very worth the extra bit of money. The other ones I seem to constantly be replacing but I have never had to replace the Williams-Sonoma ones.
Anyway I went in there with a purpose in mind. I ended up buying a tart pan but that's okay too. Neither of these things are the ones that showcase my problem. I had cashed out and was safely on my way out of the store when I saw a really shiny, odd looking frying pan. It is a pan made especially for grilling vegetables. It is all metal mesh and shaped just like a frying pan! When I saw it I immediately envisioned all of the great vegetables I would now be able to grill because now NOTHING will fall between the cracks!!! I had to have it, but I still didn't know if it was the best thing ever or did I just get suckered out of $30???!!! I guess time will tell. I plan on using it tonight and will give a full report.
Do you see how this shiny thing attraction has gotten me in trouble before???
Thats not stupid. I curse my grill basket as many a goodpiece of food has gone down. This one looks great.
Not dumb at all, I have a couple of implements like this too...I hate losing food into the abyss of my Q!
Why, oh why do they have to make things shiny.. I reckon this one could be awesome though. The amount of veg that has fallen through the grill with me is mortifying.
I tried the basket things, and they are pretty rubbish - mainly down to the lack of a decent handle. So, bingo, I reckon this thing will be great.
Thanks Glamah-I'll let you know how this one works!
Thanks Peter-we call them grill monsters because you can't tell what they ever really were! And it wouldn't be so bad but for the fact that what just fell through was going to feed us!
Hi Matt-Shiny things rock!!! I hope this one works well. The handle seems nice a sturdy so this could just be the thing that sets it apart from all the others!
Nothing wrong with shiny things!
If you grill a lot of veggies, certainly seems worth it to me.
Ummm, I don’t know Judy. I am going to have to be one of those "wait and see" people. Looking forward to your full report. I too, am seduced by shiny things(though after having a kitchen cupboard full of things that don’t get used I am learning to "Just Say No")! Seems like it would be darn useful, though!
Thats funny, I was just in W S using up a gift certificate from Mothers day. I actually had this in my hand, I kept going back and forth, but ended up getting a mini cuisinart food processor, for salsa and pesto's for the summer. I will have to check back and see how you like it, I might make a trip back!:)
Not stupidat all! That looks like a handy thing to have...not only for vegetables, but for other things that have trouble staying put on the grill, like ground chicken burgers (they're just too flimsy). I love new toys! :D
This will absolutely rock your world! I've been improvising - using a "disposable" aluminum roasting pan with a bunch of holes in the bottom. (Punching the holes was theraputic, but that's besides the point.) Like the "basket" style tools, it's kind of lacking in a handle. You can also use it for delicate fish...
Hi Cindy-we eat a lot of vegetables and now we can grill them!
Hey toontz - this worked out great. Check out todays post!
Hey PIC- I love this pan. Make that trip!
Canary Girl- I was thinking chicken too!
Hey Fearless Kitchen - this is so much better than the box that we used to use. See today's post!
I hate W&S--they always know how to take my money! lol, I'm sure this particular tool will be useful and now I kind of want one. I wind up making sad little containers out of tin foil when I use the grill
Oh, I think it's brilliant! Shiny-to-boot is a good thing, too. I think $30 well spent. Just make sure to call me over the next time you use it :)
Definitely $30 well spent. I think if I had one of them, I'd just live outside next to the grill!
Is that a large spider or a strainer? I have large spiders but nothing that big? What a creative idea. How is it holding up?
it is the best thing you ever bought, saving you lots of hair that you will not tear out of your head because all your veggies fell into the coals or got destroyed by tongs or some such nonsense! yay for you!
