It is summer in the northern hemisphere and I have really been enjoying it to the absolute fullest. Eating, hanging out with friends (old and new) and family, traveling and eating some more.
I have picked out some pictures to highlight the first couple of days of our trip to Washington, DC and then to Pittsburgh before we headed to see family for the remaining 2+ weeks.
Checking out the dino’s at the Smithsonian
Crashing the Smithsonian staff picnic in the National Mall
The White House bee keeper’s collecting honey
Pittsburgh, PA (The Strip District)
Best little donut shop! Tiny and with little donuts…
Best sandwiches ever! White bread, French fries, coleslaw and your choice of meat…very efficient these Pittsburghers!
Pastrami somewhere under all of the sides…
Greek treats from one of the street vendors. Delicious!!!!
Once we left Pittsburgh we headed to Tony’s family to celebrate the 4th of July and Kyra’s 10th birthday. More to come…

Looks like a fabulous start to your vacation! Penzey's is my favorite, too! Love it when I can walk into the store... so nice to get a whiff of each spice before you buy them!
Again, that Greek shop in Pittsburgh looks like a gem.
What fun! Can't wait to see what happens next. ;)
So fun! I'm ready to live vicariously through you ... so share away!
Wonderful trip, especially since you were in my stomping grounds of Pittsburgh. Love that you love Primanti's - pastrami is my favorite :) Speaking of that, I haven't had one in ages, I need to get one soon!
Michelle! It was a last minute decision to stop and we were literally there for lunch and snacks, then back on the road. So sorry we didn't connect. Next time right???
FUN FUN FUN Judy.... what a great beginning. Love the Greek street shop...nom nom! I used to visit Pittsburgh often in the early '90's. Waiting for a Canada post to show up soon!!
Love Penzey's, too! Hubs always gets something unusual and fun from them for me for xmas every year. Can't wait to see more from the trip... Crashing a staff picnic??? Is there a story, here? :-D
Way to crash that picnic :) Looks like you had quite a bit of fun. I'm drooling over that sandwich. Only been to Pittsburgh once and it was with 120 8th graders. :/
