After a nice relaxing lunch we headed back south and home, with our box of morels. Just *giddy* we were!!!
We had already decided to have a Swiss chard and summer squash frittata with a salad for dinner and the morels fit in seamlessly. How lucky were we?
After a quick soak in some cold water, the ends cut off and butter heated in the skillet, in they went! After a quick toss around the skillet they were perfectly done and ready for us to eat. Lucky for us the girls did not like them and I sure wasn’t forcing them to eat them!
Once again thanks so much Jaden for your never-ending generosity and to Earthy Delights for providing us with that special treat!!!
As Always…
Happy Entertaining!!!
How lucky are you? I've never tried morels, but hope to sometime soon!
ReplyDeleteI have been on the watch for morels but so far no such luck so how lucky are you Judy. By the way my friends live near Sarasota. I suppose that now they live in Rotonda West but close enough.
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous! I love morels! They look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI've never tried morels. I guess I'd like them since I love every other kind of mushroom. Nice friend, that Jaden!
ReplyDeleteWow! What a nice gift. I love frittata too,
ReplyDeleteYou should let me know next time you come through town. I only live 5 minutes away from downtown!
I've never tried morels. They look yummy!
ReplyDeleteMorels are fabulously tasty...even the dried ones are worth having in your pantry. I should kiss up to Jaden and see if I can snag some Morels! lol
ReplyDeleteLucky you! I love morels and always enjoyed them this time of year when I was growing up. I rarely see fresh ones in Austin, and when I do they are crazy expensive.
ReplyDeleteYes, the morels sound great.
ReplyDeleteSorry, but I have to offer you this feedback: the ad that came up with this post was really gross. Ugly yellow teeth + food blog = loss of appetite. I think some ad systems let you match for your content. Have you looked in the BlogHer network? Just an idea!
Morel season was always a big deal where I grew up at. People were even shot at over picking territories. I wish I had a better food appreciation then and would have taken advantage of our "backyard." At least I can pick some up when I go visit Dad. Jaden is a gem, isn't she. Enjoy the morels. The frittata sounds perfect for them. Beautiful shots too. Todd.
ReplyDeleteLucky you!! I absolutely love fresh morels. Yours look gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThe morels I got for the first time last season were amazing. Yours look far more fresh than the ones I ended up with, so I'm drooling over them right now. Enviously. ;)
ReplyDeleteThis makes me hope that the morels in my front lawn come back this spring!
ReplyDeleteOh man, that site looks awesome! Not having a Jaden nearby, I appreciate the link. :)
